Koonwarra

Population: 713 (ABS 2006)

Koonwarra is a picturesque rural village on the South Gippsland Highway between Foster and Leongatha. Generally known for it's environmental and sustainable practices, it's a relatively small town with only seven businesses, but all are enthusiastic and passionate about their interests and keen to share their knowledge and talents. Koonwarra is environmentally conscious and actively demonstrating sustainable living. It was the first "Waste Wise Village" in Australia, and is Plastic Bag Free.

A desirable mix of country and village living exists in Koonwarra, making it not only a mecca for visitors, but an extremely liveable locality, with small farmlets, larger farms, and town homes scattered around its centre. Only 20 minutes from Inverloch, and easy commuting distance to many of the regional townships, Koonwarra represents a wonderful alternative to the major centres, and is the first port of call for may potential tree changers!

The village of Koonwarra has a small, exclusive array of eateries and special interest shops. When you live in Koonwarra, you can drop down to the village for your papers and mail, a coffee and cake, gifts, and more.

Prom Country First National Real Estate has the only remaining commercial site for sale in the village - a rectangle-shaped half acre allotment, which would be ideal for a number of complementary uses: restaurant, nursery, books, health shop... and it is just begging for an enterprising investor to put up little row of shops to round the town off completely!
